Larkfleet nominated for prestigious International Green Award

The Larkfleet Group of Companies has been nominated for a prestigious international sustainable business innovation award by Cambridge Cleantech, the regional business community for sustainable businesses.

The annual awards are organised by the Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA), a global membership grouping for cleantech cluster organisations of which Cambridge Cleantech is one.

This year the GCCA awards ceremony and conference is taking place in December in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.

Karl Hick, CEO of The Larkfleet Group of Companies, said: “To be nominated for such a prestigious international award is an honour for Larkfleet. We’re looking forward to the results of the awards.

“I believe we are leading the way in showing how high environmental and quality standards can be introduced practically and economically to the highly competitive housing market and across all our companies.”

Nominated under the awards scheme’s Green Building category,  Larkfleet’s entry will be judged on the clarity of its business strategy, innovation, concept and commercial potential of its green building and renewable energy technologies. Judges will also consider the mix of expertise and experience of its core team and how positive its impact on the environment is.

The Larkfleet Group of Companies is a housebuilding and development organisation which comprises several businesses with a focus on sustainability including a sustainable housebuilder, a major developer of sustainable energy projects, an investor in sustainability focused R&D projects and a provider of energy-efficiency improvements for new and existing buildings.

Its ‘corporate mission’ is “to produce high quality sustainable developments using innovative technology and construction methods, delivered to exceed its customers’ expectations”.

Cambridge Cleantech nominated Larkfleet for an award because it has a proven track record in its home market in the research and development of green buildings and a strategic goal to expand internationally.

Cambridge Cleantech is a business community which seeks to enhance this region’s global competitiveness by co-ordinating, supporting and promoting commercial opportunities for its members. Cambridge has a global reputation as a source of technology innovation with some 500 earlier-stage innovators in the vicinity and more established environmental businesses, such as The Larkfleet Group of Companies, around Peterborough.
